Me and my son Franklin
Welcome to our li'l website. My name is Dallas, but you can call me by my online pseudonym of DustinCropsBoy. This is also the name of the my grasshopper character you see throughout this site.
I have (or have had at various times) many websites over the many years - but this site is my first personal site to showcase the miscellaneous things I am currently into or have created. I hope to add more stuff to it as I go.
I live in the Minneapolis area with my wife Drea, my son Franklin and our 3 dogs (one schnauzer: Roosevelt, two pugs: Ginger & Bentley). I also have a daughter, Madison, off to college (eek!) I am the owner of MonkeyInADryer.com Screen Printing and Embroidery.
In addition to my printing business, I am an avid collector of pop culture artifacts such as Twiggy items, Mattel toys from the '60s, cereal boxes & Flip the Frog stuff (as well as a million other things I find appealing). I have been collecting such stuff since I was in junior high school in the late '80s and briefly owned my own brick and mortar collectibles store in the '90s called LaLaLand. I also run a cereal box collectors forum called CerealBits.com. On there we talk about, buy, sell & trade vintage cereal boxes as well as additional kids food, fast food, candy and other sugary stuff. Check it out if you're interested in that kind of stuff!
At the present time I am into creating custom LEGO buildings with my son. I usually base our models off of buildings I have enjoyed as a child - such as iconic fast food restaurants. Check out my instructions I current have for sale. They're pretty fun!
For a while there I was really into downloadable paper toys. I created my own template for a bobblehead and designed a line of characters. You can download these for free and print them out if you'd like. I'll probably make more soon. Maybe YOU should design some as well!
Another thing I enjoy doing - even though I'm HORRIBLE at it - is drawing my comic strip. Admittedly, I don't do it very much, as I'm often busy with work and was quite frustrated with my inability to draw both quickly and well. Though recently something finally clicked in my brain (and drawing hand) and I, amazingly, gained the ability to finally draw DCB in a way that didn't completely appall me. I'm totally embarrassed by the amateurish drawings of my early comics - but I keep them up because some of them are kinda funny (to me at least). Maybe I'll revisit some of the gags and redraw them (or maybe not).
So that's about it for now. Thanks for reading.
